As a former member of the Powerhouse of Deliverance Church of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. headquartered in Greensboro, NC, Apostle Melvin L. Mosley served on the General Board of Presbyters (1980 - 2000) and as the Vice Bishop (1992 - 2000). In September of 2000, he founded the Power House of Deliverance Fellowship of Covenant Churches (PHDFCC) in Institute, WV. PHDFCC was later incorporated on July 16, 2003.

Born and raised in Dunbar, West Virginia to the Late James A. and Alice Mosley, Apostle Mosley is the ninth child out of a loving family of ten (6 boys, 4 girls). Due to the love, biblical teachings, and guidance instilled in him by his father and mother, he became a devoted husband to the late Elder and Sheppard Mother I. Elaine Mosley, father to his two daughters (Kimberly and Stacy) and son (Melvin II), a loving grandfather affectionately known as "PawPaw/Papa" to his two grand-children (Aryaunna and James), and too many he is an Apostolic Father.

In 1971, he graduated from West Virginia State College (now West Virginia State University) with a Bachelor's of Science in Botany, Zoology, and Military Science. Upon his graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. In 1975, he graduated from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry where he obtained his Doctorate of Philosophy in Dental Surgery (DDS).  At the completion of his doctoral degree, he spent two years in the United States Army Medical Corps as a First Lieutenant at Fort Bragg earning the rank of Captain. During his time at Fort Bragg, he started a church cell group and initiated a campus ministry at Fayetteville State University. 

 

In 1986, he received a doctoral degree in Sacred Scriptures from the United Christian College (Brooklyn, NY), and another doctoral degree in Theology from The Tampa Bay Bible College (Tampa Bay, Fl.) in 2014.​​ God has blessed Apostle Mosley with profound wisdom to become a world renown, Evangelist and Missionary with trips to Alaska, Guatemala, Haiti, Nigeria, Nicaragua, and Trinidad-Tobago, he has truly taken the mandate given unto him in St. Matthews 28:19 seriously by combining the gospel and his experience within the medical field to teach and preach about nutrition, spiritual wellness, and physical wellbeing in the body of Christ.

With over 50 years of pastoral experience, he continuously serves as an anointed and insightful teacher of the word with the ability to flow in the prophetic while 1.) exhibiting a great faith in God to encourage others in his presence to achieve excellence and integrity in ministry while 2.) promoting the biblical teachings of servant leadership to inspire others to reach their full potential in their personal walk with God. Furthermore, Apostle Mosley has spent twenty-seven years initiating and actively teaching the “School of The Prophets” on the campuses of Fayetteville State University, West Virginia State University, and West Virginia University. Additionally, Apostle Mosley received the WV Black Excellence Trailblazer Award in 2024.
